Summer is almost here and the clear skies and warmer weather signal the coming of lots of fun community events and outdoor activities. One of Stony Plain’s biggest annual events, Farmers’ Days, will kick off the season with three fun filled days of activities for both young and old. This long-standing community tradition is hosted by the Kinsmen Club of Stony Plain and is eagerly anticipated by the locals each year.

Held in Heritage Park Pavilion and the surrounding areas from May 31st to June 2nd, Farmer’s Days features a rodeo, parade, and a midway with rides and games. The festivities kick-off on Friday afternoon with the opening of the Midway carnival, the General Store and the Kingsway Saloon. You can also check out a heart-racing Rodeo show on Friday evening, featuring classics like barrel racing, bull riding and saddle bronc. Those 18 and over can head over to the Kingsway Saloon to enjoy drinks and live entertainment, or bring the family for a Ferris Wheel ride at the Midway!

Things really ramp up on Saturday and Sunday with two days full of fun activities. Start your day right at the Farmers’ Day breakfast, where for just two dollars you can get yourself a plate of pancakes, sausages and coffee while enjoying the music of 100 Mile House. After breakfast, head over to the town centre to watch the parade! Families won’t want to miss the Kids Korral on the grounds of the Pioneer Museum where kids of all ages can enjoy the bouncy castle, laser tag and the petting zoo!

In addition to the traditional Farmers’ Day events Stony Plain residents have come to know and love, the organizers are mixing things up with some exciting new events in 2019. The Strongest Man and Women competition is a test of extreme strength and stamina where entrants will lift, pull and carry huge weights as they vie for the winning title. The Axe Throwing competition will also see the athletically inclined square off as they attempt to hit precise targets with their axes. It’s sure to be an exciting event!

Heritage Park Pavilion, the home-base for the Farmers' Day festivities, is located just a five-minute drive away from Best Western Sunrise Inn & Suites in Stony Plain. We offer convenient and pet-friendly accommodations and provide all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Book with us today.
